US company Meta (known as extremist and banned in Russia) $725 million to settle a lawsuit in which Facebook illegally transferred user data (owned by Meta and banned in Russia) to research firm Cambridge Analytica agreed to pay. Agency reports Bloomberg.
According to plaintiffs, this is the largest settlement in the history of class action lawsuits for leaking confidential data. It’s also the largest amount Facebook has paid to settle such a case.
In 2014, Cambridge Analytica learned how to digitally profile US voters and use that data for political advertising. Zuckerberg was summoned to a hearing in the US Congress.
