In Volgograd, locals set up a call center in a car to steal money from bank cards. informs MIA Media.
Employees of the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with fighters of the Russian Guard, detained two local residents, aged 18 and 23, who were suspected of committing a series of thefts from citizens’ bank accounts. Phone and plastic cards were found in the passenger car.
It was found that an attacker introduced himself as an employee of a financial institution, called random people, and talked about bonus accruals by obtaining personal data from the interlocutors. He then hacked into the victims’ personal accounts, made loans on their behalf and transferred funds to their accounts. His assistant dealt with the purchase of mobile phones, SIM cards and credit cards given to candidates, and also cashed in the stolen money.
According to operators, several people living in the Volgograd region and more than 10 people living in other regions of Russia became victims of fraud. A criminal case was initiated under part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, suspects were detained.
