Update 3.1 for Genshin Impact is different from the rest. It is in September that the game will celebrate its birthday, which means that the developers will prepare something special for the fans. In this guide we have gathered all known information about the upcoming patch, new characters, locations, dungeons, bosses and weapons.
Remark: While the update is in development, the design and content may still change. The information provided is nothing more than rumours.
When will update 3.1 be released in Genshin Impact?
According to the latest data, Patch 3.1 will be released on September 28, 2022. We can expect new characters, missions, territories and one of the biggest events in Genshin Impact history.
What new locations
Numerous plums have been confirmed – Sumeru will grow into a desert. Fortunately, the developers have worked hard to make the lifeless wasteland interesting to explore.
The desert is divided into three major zones: Leeward Erosion, Overwind Erosion, and the Colonnade of Sand Plains. The screenshots and maps shown show that there are many ruins and mysterious objects in the desert, such as the Tomb of the Scarlet King. Obviously, this is where the main events in the story will take place.
One of the new dungeons can be seen in the northwest, but there will be many more.
Some new banners and characters
There are two banners and as usual they will come out at some intervals. In the first, the appearance of the four-star Kandakia, the five-star Saino and the repeat of the five-star Venti are expected. The second banner introduces a five-star Nila and a repeat of Albedo.
Not much is known about the new characters yet. Saino is a mobile spearman and alchemist at Sumeru Academy. He holds the high post of general. According to some reports, with good pumping, this character can endlessly use the Explosion of Elements, which gives an infusion. Saino’s element is Electro.
Nilu is a professional dancer. Her weapon is a one-handed sword and her element is Hydro. It is known that the girl can often use Hydro-infusion and put appropriate debuffs on enemies.
Kandakia – uses a spear and possesses the element Hydro. Nothing is known about the heroine herself. In combat, Kandakia will be able to defeat, heal allies, and weaken and slow enemies. Perhaps one of the skills is a shield.
During a recent dev stream it was announced that in an upcoming update it will be possible to get Collei on the team for free. To do this, you need to clear the 4th floor of the Twisted Abyss. As a reminder, you still have time to include this hero in your team if you participate in the “Children’s Tale” event and complete the “Forsaken Toy” quest before 9/28/2022.
Which new weapon?
Five stars:
- Spear “Staff of Scarlet Sands”;
- Two-handed sword “Key of Hajj-nisut”.
Four stars:
- Wandering star catalyst;
- One-handed sword “Moonlight of Xyphos”;
- Two-handed sword “Mahaira Aquamarine”.
For the main event of the Song of Cups patch, you can get another weapon: the Spear of the Message of the Winds.
What are the new events?
As mentioned before, the main event of the update will be the Song of Cups. It is in the context of this event that the developers want to celebrate the anniversary. Players are presented with a letter containing 1600 Source Stones, a companion bird and a Klee Bomb. There will also be an event with daily login gifts.
Song of Cups
The Cup song is a harvest festival in Mondstadt. At the moment, residents organize a wine fair and taste rare varieties. The supposed location of the fair is Cider Lake. Many, if not all, residents of Mondstadt are expected to come to the celebration. Players can meet Kollei, Yae Miko and Toma. There will also be an opportunity to learn more about Razor and see his meeting with Lisa.
The journey of the star finder
Another event is the Star Seeker’s Journey. Players are given a special tool “Wisdom of Banu”, with which they must collect six stars of the future in the forest. The reward is 420 Bronze Stones. When approaching the star, you must solve a puzzle, for which a reward is also offered.
The tool vaguely resembles Ayesha’s Prospector from the Shadow of Antiquity event.
hyakunin ikki
The next event was a repeat – Hyakunin Ikki. Collect linked squads and fight in the arena. The more points you get, the higher the reward.
wind driver
Winddriver is a race against time for wind coins. The event will be available in co-op mode. Interestingly, there will be special devices on the tracks – “Wind Interceptors”. If you set them up correctly, it will be much easier to conquer routes.
What are the new bosses?
Two world bosses are certainly known: “Semi-Eternal Control Matrix” and “Dragon of Eternal Calamity”. Presumably the “Matrix” will provide resources for the rise of Candace and the “Dragon” for the Nilu.
The Matrix fires its parts and gains resistance to damage periodically. To win, you have to break all the parts of the machine so that the device starts the recovery process. At this point it is necessary to attack the core with the Electro element and create the “Stimulation” reaction (Electro + Dendro). As a reward you will receive a “Light Guide Tetrahedron”.
“Dragon” is a more dangerous opponent. It attacks both in the air and on the ground. In addition, the monster can increase the resistance and absorb the element from which it takes damage. Then the opponent will attack with the energy you just hit him with. To win you will have to aim for the cores, but that will not be easy at all. The reward will be “Eternal Mechanism”.
What new dungeons
Nothing is known about the dungeons yet. According to some information, there will be five. Recently there was a runoff of name changes. Now the list looks like this:
- Hajj Nisut Hall;
- dining room;
- Great Hall of Truths;
- Hall of the Duat;
- Sachem hall.
What will be the plot and new quests?
Two of the Archons’ tasks were announced on the stream: “Act 3. Dreams, Emptiness, Deception” and “Act 4. King Deshret and the Three Wise Men”.
You can count on the tasks of the legends Sayno and Neela. According to some reports, the player will have to help Saino investigate. As a result, the character will confront one of his close friends. It’s easier with Neil. A new girl will join her dance troupe, whose father will be categorically against it. The parent decides to destroy the Nilu Theater, but the player can intervene.
The main plot revolves around the resurrection of the Scarlet King. Fanatic followers believe that Dendro Archon killed their master and that the king will be resurrected if enough sacrifices are made near his pyramid. Players will learn the details along with Saino and understand that the main culprit of all the problems is actually the Academy. The plot promises many unexpected twists, betrayals and intrigue.
