AMD officially introduced its new products last night, including processors, video cards and chipsets (logic sets) for motherboards. Let’s talk about this in more detail.
AMD Ryzen 7000
Four models will be presented, including the top 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X. New items go on sale on September 27. Brief specifications and prices are as follows:
As for the increase in productivity, on some tasks it is up to 40%. In games, the result is more modest. At 1080p resolution, the increase is about 21%. An increase in clock frequencies to 5.7 GHz is also announced. The increase in IPC (number of operations per cycle) is 29%.
The company also compares the Ryzen 9 7950X and Ryzen 9 5950X – in games, the increase over the old generation is 6-35%. In applied applications, including V-Ray Render, Corona and POV-Ray, the numbers are even higher – 32-48%.
And a comparison of the younger 6-core Ryzen 5 7600X and the top 16-core Core i9-12900K shows that the new AMD chip is on average 5% faster. Plus, the 7600X is significantly cheaper.
Radeon RX 7000 Graphics Cards
The presentation also showed the work of the video cards Radeon RX 7000. The company promised “absolutely great” performance, but there were no details yet. It only mentions that the performance per watt of the RDNA 3 architecture has increased by 50% compared to the current one. AMD also showed a PC build based on Ryzen 9 7950X and an unknown Radeon RX 7000 model in-game lies from p.
In addition, the head of AMD Lisa Su (Lisa Su) has announced that the new graphics chips will consist of several crystals made using the 5-nm process technology. They will be on the market before the end of the year.
AMD 600 series chipsets
Finally, AMD showed 4 new chipsets for motherboards simultaneously. Among them is the B650E, a mid-range kit but with some flagship features.
AMD Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Customer Business David McAfee said the new AM5 chipsets and sockets support DDR5 RAM and PCIe 5.0 interface. The processor socket itself provides up to 230 watts of power per processor and is compatible with cooling systems for AM4.
Motherboards will also hit the market on September 27. Top models based on AMD X670E and X670 chipsets will be released first. Versions on the simpler B650E and B650 will hit the market in October.
