Russian studio Ice-Pick Lodge, known as the author of “mora” and “Turgor”, announced a new project – a mobile game “French”. The developers describe it as a mixture of “Romance by SMS and Evil Tamagotchi“.
The main character is a girl named Franz, who gets into the player’s phone for some unknown reason. You can find a common language by exchanging comments, solving”linguistic riddles”, by touching the screen and just being in the application.
Franz will also communicate with the player. According to the authors, a partner can start spamming notifications if they get lonely, or get offended and temporarily block the application. Hideo Kojima would certainly appreciate this.
The game touches on a lot of heavy topics, including toxic relationships. The authors warn that Franz is a girl with a difficult character. On the one hand, she will often provoke the player, and on the other, she will try to achieve love. “Franz’s behavior is quite varied and her provocations are often an ethical test. So the player can very well see how, fighting against evil, he himself will become one” it says in the description.
Perhaps the most important feeling ‘Franz’ evokes is moral disorientation. You will have to test your value structure for strength and think carefully about whether you can call yourself a good person.
The gameplay takes place by exploring locations where various inscriptions are located. There are only four locations, but they will constantly change in appearance, illustrating the relationship with Franz.
The release date of the project has not yet been announced.
