The announcement of a console from one of the market leaders is always an exciting event and causes heated discussions on the Internet. Everyone discusses the design of the device, its features and functions. But first of all, gamers buy gaming platforms not because of their appearance, screen size or the presence of special buttons, but for the sake of games. Unfortunately, there is almost no official information about future projects for the Nintendo Switch 2, and that won’t happen until April. But, in order not to get bored, let’s try to analyze the situation ourselves and figure out what we will play on the long-awaited hybrid device in the coming years.
Which projects will definitely be released for Switch 2

So far we know of very few games that will be released on consoles. Chief among these is the new Mario Kart, shown in the device’s debut trailer. What exactly it will be called is unknown and there are no gameplay details of the project. Not surprisingly, Nintendo was the first to demonstrate this particular game: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe became the biggest hit of the first Switch and sold no less than 64 million copies.
In addition to the gigantic Mario Kart, turn-based RPG Bestiario and an indie project will also be released for Switch 2 My time at Evershine. Unfortunately, this is where the list of guaranteed releases ends for now.
Not too much, right? Now is the time to start guessing, supported by logical analysis. For example, we can safely assume that all major releases from the first Switch, which have not yet been officially confirmed for Switch 2, will be available on the new product. For the reason that Nintendo promises to implement almost complete backward compatibility of the Switch 2 with its predecessor. This most likely means that we will be able to play not only the current impressive catalog of the first Switch on the platform, but also unreleased projects like Donkey Kong Country returns to HD, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and port Sid Meier’s civilization 7.
Do you have a previous generation Nintendo Switch?
Exclusive
The Switch 2, like any major N console in general, is worth buying for the sake of the Nintendo games themselves. Having access to future releases that you can’t play anywhere else is the Switch 2’s biggest selling point if you’re looking at a portable device.
It’s difficult to say what exactly the Japanese giant is developing in the field of games, but we can tell you what we would like to see in the future.
Naturally, many players are most intrigued by the next main installment of The Legend of Zelda. Will Nintendo continue to experiment with the open world or will it return to the series’ roots? Unfortunately, there’s a good chance we won’t get the answer to the question anytime soon: Zelda always takes too long to develop.

But it cannot be ruled out that the wait for a remaster or remake will be short The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Previously, Nintendo was rumored to be holding a secret meeting with industry developers to show them the Switch 2’s capabilities. The demonstration would have used a special version of BOTW without loading screens.
Moreover, there hasn’t been a major game about Mario for a long time, so a conditional Super Mario Odyssey 2 will probably be made for the new console. That should not be ruled out, like Breath of the Wild in its time , the second Odyssey will take place in the open world: Nintendo is not only concerned with the concept of a large level that encourages free exploration, in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.
Although Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is coming out this year, we can’t forget the main 2D series. Metroid Dread was extremely successful among critics and players alike. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that MercurySteam, the authors of the hit, are not only developing their own project for PC, codenamed Project Iron, but at the same time are also working on the next Metroid part. Who else should I entrust it to?
Multiplatform

There are no official features of the Nintendo Switch 2 yet, but all rumors indicate that we are waiting for a device with power on the level of the PlayStation 4. Thanks to NVIDIA’s newfangled upscaling technologies, the Switch 2 will in practice. being able to leap above and beyond the expected level of performance. This means we can expect many hits from the past decade that simply couldn’t technically work properly on the previous Nintendo console.
The internet is full of leaks about exactly this. According to rumors, major developers are already keeping an eye on the console and preparing new versions of their most popular games. So, information recently circulated that Switch 2 would be released Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Diablo 4, Fallout 4, Starfield Tekken 8 and Elden Ring. Mentioned earlier Assassin’s Creed: Shadows.
Games on Unreal Engine 5

I would especially like to mention games based on the latest version of the Unreal engine. Switch 2 ports are rumored to be in the works Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and its unconfirmed remake The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. This is important because modern portable consoles don’t play well with Unreal Engine 5. The Steam Deck doesn’t handle the new one very well. Silent Hill 2 and even worse with STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl. If Switch 2 can show decent performance in such a demanding engine, then this will be a strong argument in favor of the new device.
What do you think? Which games would you buy a Nintendo Switch 2 for? For exclusivity? Multiplatforms? A little bit of everything? Write in the comments.
Is it worth buying a console for just one exclusive version?
