Markus “Notch” Persson, developer of the incredibly popular Minecraft has announced another project. The new game will be the spiritual successor to its own sandbox.
Markus Persson started the new year 2025 with a survey among subscribers. He asked them what they were looking forward to more: his new “bagel” or the Minecraft sequel. The majority preferred cubes and the developer decided not to delay the decision.
In short, I announced Minecraft 2. I thought maybe people REALLY want me to make another game very similar to the first one, and I’m happy to get back into development. I don’t really care which game I make first (or if I make them at all), but I decided that I would absolutely be willing to give it a fair shot as a spiritual successor to Minecraft and set up a poll about it.

The new game has already been given the working title Adventureland. Until Markus Persson chose the setting, choosing between steampunk and space. As for the Mojang studio, which supports Minecraft, the developer promised not to interfere in any way with its work, which Microsoft is already “successfully spoiling”.
Let us remind you that the creator of Minecraft is working on another project. One of his next games will be a roguelike game similar to Diablo from the first person. In 2024 he shared the first screenshots.
