Gamers will need a steady flow of money to survive in the world STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl: ammo, healing items and food. All this is necessary to explore the area, and the best equipment is your top priority. You can’t upgrade your items without a lot of zone coupons, and getting them at the start of the game isn’t a given. Not everything can be sold for a profit, so you’ll need to look for specific weapons and loot to make your forays as rewarding as possible. Here’s a quick guide to the best ways to stock up on cash.
Guides for STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl
Where to spend money
Coupons are the main currency or money in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. You only need one weapon of each type, so there’s no point in stocking up on multiple weapons. Choose the one you need (preferably in good condition so you don’t have to pay to have it repaired) and upgrade it to get the maximum power.
Since the game has no leveling system, this is the only way to really get stronger. Repair weapons to prevent them from jamming, and repair armor to keep its protection properties at the right level. Upgrade when you have a surplus of coupons to ensure your weapon of choice remains viable even in the late game against armored opponents.
If you’re not looking for weapon upgrades, then mods are your next best investment in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Spend your coupons on weapon customizations. These can range from silencers that allow for stealth gameplay to scopes that give you a clearer view while shooting.
Some of the more modern weapons in the game (such as the GP37) will have fewer sources for ammo replenishment compared to the old reliable weapons such as the AKM-74S. If you want to use this weapon late in the game, you’ll need to set aside a few coupons, as the merchants’ ammo prices will have you hunting for artifacts again to fill a new hole in your pocket. You can set the single-shot mode and use the scope to aim at the head and save ammunition.
Armor is one of the most expensive items in the game, meaning it’s especially expensive to repair. Avoid as much damage as possible or wear a cheaper set of spare armor while you earn money.
Complete tasks
As you might expect, many residents of the Zone will pay you to complete tasks for them. Although you will get some money for completing main story missions in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, it won’t be enough to make your survival easier. However, there are side missions and other NPC missions that offer significant cash rewards.
In particular, bartending jobs (at the beginning of the game) are one of the best sources of money. So keep an eye out for NPC missions and make sure to complete them as you explore the rest of the Zone.
Always look for special loot during missions. Caches (and journalist caches) are another great way to get valuable loot. When a location or cache is marked on your map, look for it.
Sell artifacts
Artifacts will bring you a large amount of money if you sell them to various merchants in settlements, and not just equip them to your character. These items are usually found around anomalies, and to do this you will need to use the Echo Scanner. You can buy it at the Zalesye base, the price will be about 5,000 coupons.
One of the first echo detectors can be found during the quest “Dangerous Visitors”, which can be taken at the very beginning of the game, south of the Zalesye base. Complete the quest and rescue the NPC – he will tell you about the cave behind the boiler room. Blow up the cave and you will find an artifact inside “Mama’s Beads”. It costs more 4000 discount coupons.
Use the scanner where you think you can find the artifact. When you are close, the scanner will beep and the closer you get, the faster the sound. You will have to use bolts to activate anomalies in areas and then quickly find the artifact.
Artifacts often have high radiation, so be prepared to run back to base to sell them before you get heavily irradiated. While wearing these items at the start of the game, you will receive radiation damage and will not be able to rest. If you don’t want to use the artifact you just received, make sure you sell it to a merchant.
Sell equipment and weapons
As you explore the world, you will be able to collect a lot of unnecessary equipment and weapons in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Since your inventory is filling up alarmingly quickly, make sure you sell the loot you don’t need, including weapons and other junk. Carry weight-reducing artifacts. The more you can carry, the more you can sell.
Armor tends to be quite expensive, with some sets selling for 50,000 vouchers mid-game. Don’t let the weight stop you: keep the armor and sell it as soon as possible. Grenades are also valuable because of their size and rarity. Don’t use them in battle and sell them instead.
There are few things more profitable than a large gang of bandits. Each of them has at least a gun, ammo and something else such as bandages, potions or even grenades. Group sizes can vary, up to 20 people. That means lots of supplies to collect and sell, plus plenty of ammo for future encounters.
Please note, however, that you cannot sell weapons marked in red. These weapons are not durable and you will have to repair them first, but most of the time this will not be profitable. Only collect weapons that have at least yellow status. Red weapons are too broken and cannot be sold. Leave it alone, but get the ammo first.
However, items are not sold at the price indicated in the inventory. Who you sell it to determines how much you get. Vendors offer about 33 percent of the item’s value, bartenders about 25 percent, and wandering stalkers typically offer less than 20 percent.
Even if you don’t have to fight humans, but deal with mutants without loot, you can still find useful items nearby. Do not leave the site until you have thoroughly inspected it and removed anything that is not nailed down.
Explore every part of the map
While you won’t find coupons in abundance as you explore the map, you will get a lot of unnecessary gear and junk that you can sell later. So don’t be afraid to get off the beaten path, because STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is designed to reward the more adventurous.
If you want to minimize the time you spend wandering aimlessly looking for loot, head to the cache. The best part is that dead NPCs sometimes have PDA. When retrieved, they often add a new cache icon to your map.
