The third episode of The Acolyte is finally out on Disney Plus. Many viewers were curiously waiting for it, because even before the premiere of the show, one of the journalists promised that the series would finally kill Star Wars. For some, this turned out to be exactly the case.
The episode is titled “Destiny” and focuses mainly on the backstory of the heroines Mei and Oshie. It turned out that the girls grew up in a society of witches and were conceived with the help of the Force. The Jedi are usually shown on the evil side. In the end, May threatens to kill her sister, who wants to join the Order, and starts a fire that kills many innocents.
Forbes journalist Erik Kain reviewed the episode and called it one of the worst in Star Wars history. The reviewer was confused by the awkward singing scene, vague character motivations, poor dialogue, and not the most logical scenes such as a fire in a stone cave. Kane also doesn’t understand where the $180 million budget went.

At the end of the review, Kane suggested that Star Wars (and other Witcher universes) had taken over “cheaters”which “disguised as good storytellers”and shared an excerpt from George Martin’s blog.
Everywhere you look, there are more and more writers and producers eager to ‘make’ great stories their own. It doesn’t seem to matter whether the source material was written by Stan Lee, Charles Dickens, Ian Fleming, Roald Dahl, Ursula K. Le Guin), JRR Tolkien, Mark Twain, Raymond Chandler, Jane Austen or… well, anyone . No matter how great a writer the author is, no matter how great the book, there will always be someone around who thinks they can do better and wants to ‘improve’ the story. “A book is a book, a movie is a movie,” they will tell you, as if saying something profound. They then create their own story.
However, they will never do better. Nine hundred and ninety-nine times out of a thousand, they make the situation worse.
On IMDb, the episode received a score of 4.2 out of 10. Judging from the reactions, many fans really agree with the Forbes journalist’s opinion.
But I think this episode finally drew the line. I think I’m done. I’ve seen a lot of bad Star Wars and it seems like they get worse every year, but this might be the worst I’ve ever seen. I’ve tried my best to figure it out, but sometimes the answer is: it just sucks.
Worst episode I’ve ever seen.
Did they really think people would like it?
Let us remind you that “Acolyte” will receive a total of eight episodes. The end of the story will be shown on July 16.
