In the wake of the Amazon series based on the Fallout universe, developers from Bethesda decided to share interesting facts about the games in the series. It turned out to be so in vain that I had to apologize on social networks.
So said Fallout 4 designer Emil Pagliarulo, who previously defended canonicity Fallout: New Vegas shared controversial information on social networks about one of the main characters of the fourth part, Nate:
Considering the good vibes lately and the millions of awesome Fallout fans (that’s you!), I feel like it’s time to talk about the connection Fallout 1 and Fallout 4. Remember the Fallout 1 introductory video? Annexation of Canada? THE SAME. BOY. (no, NOT a shooter!)

We were of course talking about the intro to the first part of the series, in which two armored soldiers shoot a Canadian prisoner of war:

This fact, to say the least, discouraged the players. Emil Pagliarulo hastened to take back his words:
Uhm. I wanted to share what I thought was an interesting fact about Fallout, without realizing how much controversy it could cause… Not all information I share about Fallout is automatically canon. Nate is NOT a war criminal!

He also clarified that since the game features character customization, each player creates a Nate with their own story.
Let’s not forget that Amazon’s series previously sparked heated debate among Fallout: New Vegas fans. They felt that the show had destroyed the canonicity of the game’s events.
🧳 An interesting detail from the Stellar Blade demo: only Volga cars can be looted in the game
