Most recently, a closed presentation was held dedicated to the upcoming first-person shooter Judas. New details have emerged. In addition, several new gameplay images have appeared.
The game is being developed by Ghost Story Games, a studio founded by Ken Levine of fame BioShock and System shock 2. In the video below, journalist and TV presenter Geoff Keighley demonstrates some gameplay footage and shares his impressions.
The main action of Judas takes place on a huge spaceship, comparable in size to a full-fledged city. In the story, his goal is to take the last survivors of Earth to Proxima Centauri, but as a result the ship breaks down, allowing all the people to die.
The main character, named Judah, must make alliances with various factions on which her survival depends. Relations between groups of people are very tense and sometimes even hostile. The player will have to decide which faction leader he wants to join. The formation of story missions is based on this.
The setting is made in the style of futurism. For example, in the gaming universe, there is a technology that can molecularly revive people. However, after recovery, the person partially loses his memory. This is also played out in the gameplay, allowing the heroine to come back to life after death.
Key features include a high degree of replayability thanks to non-linear gameplay and storytelling, as well as deep characters, each with their own motivations and backstory. The faction leaders are Nefertiti, Hope and Tom. By the way, they are holograms who have lost their physical bodies, but continue to influence other people. The story campaign will take at least fifteen hours.
Other details:
- The development has been going on for 11 years;
- The setting has nothing to do with Ken Levine’s previous games;
- The game will contain roguelike elements;
- Representatives of the factions will respond in real time to the protagonist’s interactions with leaders hostile to them. For example, they may try to bribe or intimidate Judas;
- Each new playthrough will be unique in terms of quests, loot, combat, and even some textures.
Judas is being developed for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The exact release date has not yet been announced.
