According to an insider, things are going well Overwatch 2 just keeps getting worse. This time the problems affected the developers’ wallets: they simply did not receive a bonus.
According to journalist Jason Schreier, Blizzard has decided to revise its bonus policy.
“Employees used to receive bonuses based on the overall performance of the company. But last summer the payments were linked to the results of each specific franchise,” he explained.

As a result, the teams received prizes Diablo and World of Warcraft. Overwatch 2 developers were left without bonuses, even though the company had previously promised to cover some of the shortfall.
It is noteworthy that Blizzard’s former management, represented by Mike Morhaime and J. Allen Brack, advocated the distribution of bonuses to all employees, regardless of the success of the franchises. This was to encourage developers not to be afraid of experiments. Activision’s management, previously led by Bobby Kotick, had a different opinion and stated that the creators of the most profitable projects should receive bonuses.

Let’s not forget that Overwatch 2 had a lot of issues upon release. The decision to remove PvE from the game was extremely controversial, with only a paid set of three story missions being released, which sold poorly. Blizzard itself plans to continue developing PvP only.
Previously, players criticized the cost of skins in Overwatch 2, released as part of a collaboration with cult anime Cowboy Bebop.
