The smartphone greets us with a rich package: in addition to a set of charger, documentation, ejector and silicone case, the package also includes a protective glass. It certainly comes in handy, because TECNO SPARK 20 Pro+ has an AMOLED screen with rounded edges. And while the screen has Gorilla Glass 5 protection, it could use some extra armor.

The back cover is made of plastic with a wet sand texture. There are hardly any fingerprints on it anymore and the only place where it gets dirty is near the round camera block, but fingers almost never get there when you use the device.

There are three cameras in the block, although that may seem different at first glance. One of the lenses here is a decorative element that could probably house a flash. It was also placed on the body separately from the main unit.

The smartphone itself is sold in different colors, including the “Green Planet” color scheme, where the case differs in material – in this version, eco-leather is used, called Magic Skin 2.0.

The power and volume buttons are located exclusively on the right side of the smartphone’s plastic frame.

The SIM card tray is located at the bottom, there is also a USB Type-C connector. There is no minijack for a headset. We also note that for the radio to work you will need Type-C headphones; the smartphone also does not have a built-in antenna.

The company’s own 33W charger. Includes USB-A to Type-C cable.

Display and functionality

A clear advantage of the TECNO SPARK 20 Pro+ smartphone is the 6.8 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2436×1080 pixels, support for frequencies up to 120 Hz and high peak brightness (up to 1000 nits according to the manufacturer). It’s not exactly a waterfall screen, but the curved edges set it apart from the competition. Thanks to them, the smartphone visually and in the hands feels like a product of a different price range.

There are two screen refresh rates: 60 and 120 Hz. Modes can be easily set in the settings. With a brightness of up to 1000 nits, you can use the device on a sunny day. 2160Hz PWM control compensates for flicker at low brightness levels.

There is a fingerprint sensor under the screen, which works without any problems. The device also supports NFC, allowing you to pay in stores without a card.

The Wi-Fi 5 module allows you to download up to 400 Mbps over a 2.4 GHz network. In fact, the speed is slightly lower: about 350 Mbit/s.

The main camera module, called Ultra Sensing, has a matrix of 108 megapixels. The module is equipped with an f/1.8 lens and a focal length equal to 26 mm.

There is no optical stabilization, so anti-aliasing is done exclusively with the help of an electronic assistant. This allows you to create smooth videos. The 2K smartphone only photographs at 30 frames per second without stabilization. The front camera is 32 megapixels with the same video recording capabilities.

The main camera is commendable for the good quality of photos in the basic modes and for night shots. Yes, the device makes extensive use of AI for detail and bokeh, but the photos come out well, especially for this price segment of devices.

The triple zoom here is intrasensory: the camera selects the center part and imitates the action of a telephoto lens. Photos with it really come out more detailed than in normal mode.

IP53 protection won’t let you dive with a smartphone in your hand, but it does promise protection against large dust particles, splashes and dirt.

Productivity and gaming

TECNO SPARK 20 Pro+ uses an improved version of the 6nm MediaTek Helio G99 processor with Mali-G57 MC2 graphics called Ultimate. A slight overclock allows the device to show scores slightly higher than the base version in synthetic Geekbench 6 and AnTuTu tests (results in images).

The smartphone is equipped with 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and a 256 GB drive. RAM can be expanded up to 16 GB via storage, but the difference in operating speed is almost unnoticeable. The built-in memory cannot be expanded with other drives.

blank

The device runs on Android 14 with the HiOS 13.6.0 add-on. There were no stutters during navigation or transitions between menus.

Gaming tests showed that the G99 chipset is still sufficient for smooth images in undemanding projects. Sure, you won’t see a stable frame rate, let alone 60 FPS, at high settings, but you can easily play with medium-low options, like PUBG or World of Tanks Blitz. For Genshin Impact, you need to set the minimum values to get 30 frames per second.

The 5000mAh battery will last around 4-5 hours of gaming with Wi-Fi enabled and above average screen brightness. The device hardly heats up, so even long sessions are no problem.

Results and prizes

The TECNO SPARK 20 Pro+ smartphone can be recommended to users who want a decent looking device with a bright and contrasty display and good performance. Plus a good camera and autonomy for a mid-budget device.

Perfect construction! A lightweight and convenient smartphone for every day – well built, does not heat up at all, does not throttle and allows you to play non-intensive projects.

Designer’s choice. Against the background of square devices, SPARK 20 Pro+ stands out with a curved screen and a round camera block. Looks more expensive than actual cost.
