To survive in Deep Rock Galactic: Survive and kill the Dreadnought, you must select the correct weapon for one of the four available classes. At the same time, today there are already 40 types of weapons available in the game. In this guide, we’ll talk about the strengths of each class and the best builds for them.
How to improve weapons
To unlock each weapon’s special abilities, you must level it up to 12 in a single run. On average you reach level 40, so you have time to upgrade no more than two types of equipment. Strengthening all weapons takes a lot of grinding, but it is an important part of the game and an opportunity to learn different combinations.

The best weapon for a scout
Scout – an initial class with high movement speed and a chance to avoid damage. Specializes in kinetic weapons with additional electrical damage. Among his weapons can be noted plasma carbine DRAK-25, which opens when you reach level 21. High and constant plasma damage allows you to quickly deal with bosses at a safe distance.
Here are the rest of the weapons with a brief description:
Electroshock sweeper (boomerang) – Unlocks at character level 6. Deals damage twice, allowing you to provide stable DPS even with a small damage increase. Recommended weapon for running;
Cryogenic grenade – not the greatest killing power, but this grenade is capable of freezing a large area and even a Dreadnought. This will help you survive in many situations, and there will be enough damage from other weapons.
- Homemade “boomstick” – an entry-level shotgun that doesn’t stand out in any way. It will help when dealing with groups of enemies at close range, but scouts are collected mainly through ranged damage, so it will be useless;
- M1000 “Classic” – a starting rifle that is unlocked at Scout level 3. It has high destructive power and penetrating power, but does not perform well against a crowd of enemies;
- Zhukov NUK17 – an electric pistol, with nice improvements. It will work well in assembling electric weapons, but is useless on its own;
TH-0R tranquilizer rifle – can be unlocked at level 12. It is the main weapon in this character’s build;
Bolt launcher “Nishanka” X-80 — a powerful crossbow, unlocked at level 24. Replaces other guns, as it has increased damage and enormous attack speed;
- Arc-Tek Cryo-Guard Drone – a slower drone that is unlocked at character level 15. It is useless as it does little damage and does not slow enemies effectively enough.

It is better to take from artifacts “Nitra Glycerin Powder”, “Gold Plated Bullets” And “Gold Scanner”. This will increase the total damage by 2-3 times, but nitra And gold you will have to avoid spending money unnecessarily.
The best weapon for a Heavy
A complex class whose main weapon fires only in front of the character. Despite this, if mounted correctly, the starter machine gun can destroy any number of enemies and kill a Dreadnought with a few clips. Recommended for any construction heavy autocannon “Thundercloud”which opens at level 12.
Other weapons you can use against this character:
- BRT7 serial fire pistol – a good basic weapon that allows you to level up and safely upgrade more powerful options;
- Tactical lead thrower – a grenade that fires kinetic projectiles in a small radius. Deals significant damage, but often flies in the wrong direction;
- Hunting drone “Firefly” – a drone that can support you with fire. However, the range of his attack is longer, so you’ll have to return for experience, or look for a magnet;
Hurricane missile system – a slow but deadly weapon that can quickly destroy a pack of beetles. As you unlock additional power-ups, it becomes the most important weapon in your arsenal;
Gauss pistol ArmsKore – unlocks at tough level 27 and is designed for victory. Even at the maximum difficulty level you will feel every shot and move on without much effort;
- Seismic repeller — deals significant damage in a small radius. If you’re into killing bugs, this is a good option. In other cases it only takes up a spot without causing enough damage;
Theavy revolver “Bulldog” – a slow but deadly weapon, a must-have in any build. After the power-ups are opened, it will properly complement the basic machine gun and destroy the remaining beetles;
- Cryo cannon – a good weapon, but the improvements are not enough to handle every run consistently. Such a weapon is more suitable for a drill;
Incendiary grenade — constant fire damage over a huge radius. Even if the grenade flies the wrong way, you can direct the beetles into a puddle that won’t harm you. Helps quickly get rid of small monsters and deal constant damage to bosses.

Depending on your playstyle, there are several artifacts you can choose from:
- Barley bulb juice – accelerates you when the character is not moving, which is ideal for machine guns, where you have to look in the direction of the enemy;
- Dry ration IRL-U – increases health and regeneration. Because the Heavy is slow, extra health is a priority;
- Red sugar – the more often you choose health restoration, the more it becomes. In the final phase you can easily get 700 health, which will allow you to remain surrounded by enemies for a few seconds.
The best weapon for a drill
Perhaps the strongest class today. The sheer speed of destruction of the environment will not allow you to be distracted by enemies, freeing up the location of resources in a few minutes. At the same time, it deals massive periodic damage through acid and fire damage. although Microwave transmitter Colette can be opened already at level 6, this weapon will remain with you until the end of the game. It deals damage in a cone that automatically targets enemies and blasts through obstacles. One of the disadvantages is that the turning speed is very slow, but if you get used to it, you can take out both single targets and a whole swarm of beetles in a few seconds.
Except Emitter The drill has a large selection of other, no less weak tools:
- Acid slime thrower – Spray acid around the character. With bonuses to elemental damage, you will take massive damage over time;
Impact axe – despite the name, this is one of the most powerful weapons in the game. The Driller throws several axes that deal damage into an area, then withdraws them, increasing the damage;
Flamethrower CRSPR – high combat power that will help you survive against an endless stream of bugs. Improvements allow you to take a larger number of beams, which means the damage and damage area will increase significantly;
- Neurotoxin grenade – not the most useful thing in a drill’s arsenal, but if you take acid damage you can try it;
- Cryo cannon – the damage is not enough to destroy beetles with this weapon alone, so at high levels there is a chance that you will die when you reload;
- Drone K1-R “Viper” — drone with acid damage. Like other robots, it is useless in the mid and late stages of the game, distracting you from surviving;
Experimental plasma charger – unlocks at Driller level 27, but worth all the effort. The massive damage allows you to quickly clear the path regardless of the number of enemies.

In artifacts you can collect various belts that cause elemental damage, and artifacts that increase health.
Best weapon for an engineer
The worst “digger” of the four, but in the later stages it is quite easy to survive, which the engineer copes with perfectly thanks to additional devices. His arsenal is full of turrets and drones, and passive skills and the right artifacts improve them immensely. But in addition, you must always have a handgun, for example “Vepr” Auto 210. This shotgun fires in front of the engineer, causing massive damage.
- Voltaic electric fence – a device that causes constant damage in a small radius. Shows off well when the character is backed into a corner and enemies emerge from one spot;
- Smart rifle LOK-1 — a weak, slow and ineffective weapon that disrupts the game. Auto-targeting works lopsidedly, causing the level bosses to take many times longer;
Deep core RGM — a grenade launcher that can quickly clear excess beetles from a location. Upgrades complement the weapon nicely, allowing you to tailor it to the situation;
Plasma cutter – Huge plasma damage at good range. If you’re not playing via turrets, this will be required during assembly;
- Diffraction splitter – a strange weapon, analogues of which have already been seen in the game, but with better parameters. We have failed to realize its potential;
- Plasma charge – a good solution for plasma damage. But there are more useful tools;
- Shredder Swarm Grenade – like other grenades, this one has accuracy and capability issues. Most likely, they will be recycled, but for today it is better not to take up space for this;
Tower “Krakatoa” – the best dome with enormous fire damage. At level 18, the affected area literally covers the entire visible area;
Various drones — the game features drones with special damage. The Engineer reveals them best and starts to become useful if you choose the right one for your build.
The first option is to collect nitra and gold by opening artifacts “Gold Plated Bullet”, “Nitraglycerate powder” And “Pickled Nitra”. The second option is through defense and constant stops. This is where you need it “Tactical bipod” And “Barley ball juice”.

That’s everything we learned about the weapons and classes in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. If a new weapon, class or artifact is introduced to the game, we will be sure to update the guide to the latest version.
