The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) will take place in Las Vegas from January 9 to January 12, 2024. It shows innovative developments in the field of consumer technology. In this article we will talk about the most interesting specimens.
About the Consumer Electronics Show in a nutshell
This exhibition has been held in the US since 1967. It is dedicated to new devices and advanced technologies. Among the exhibits were both unusual concepts that did not become popular, and electronics, which seem familiar today. CES visitors saw the world’s first video recorder in 1970, the CD and video camera in 1981 and the DVD format in 1996. The games consoles Philips CD-i (1991) and Microsoft Xbox (2003) were also shown for the first time at the Consumer Electronics Show.

And now we invite you to familiarize yourself with the developments that were shown at CES 2024.

Claw A1M, a portable console from MSI

After the success of the Steam Deck, several major companies specializing in computer hardware decided to release their own pocket console. For example, MSI, a Taiwanese manufacturer of video cards, motherboards and laptops, showed the portable Claw A1M. It comes in two versions: with a 16-core processor and Intel Core Ultra 7, but also with a 14-core processor and Intel Core Ultra 5. The first version costs $799, the second – $699. We have been promised a 7-inch IPS screen with a frame rate of 120 Hz. But the playing time is not impressive: only 2 hours in active game mode. The main question, however, is whether the console will continue to be supported by developers for a long time.

Hyperkin, a portable console with SEGA games

Hyperkin is aimed exclusively at retro gamers. Allows you to read Sega Genesis and Mega Drive cartridges. If you have a collection of licensed classic Sega games, you can play them on Hyperkin. When connected to a TV, it works as a home console. In stationary mode, the device supports two gamepads for cooperative play.
Project Esther, chair cushion for tactile gaming experience

Modern gamepads not only vibrate, but also allow you to transmit the sensations of what is happening on the screen. If this is not enough for you, you can purchase a special seat cover called Project Esther. The device synchronizes with the computer and generates different vibrations depending on your actions during the game.
XR helmet from Sony

This helmet is designed for creating extended reality projects. It is designed for developers of video games, 3D movies and industrial design programs. The device will be equipped with OLED displays with 4K resolution and special technologies that allow you to create high-quality three-dimensional images in real time. Sales will begin this year. Helmets with games will probably appear later.
ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid, a convertible laptop from Lenovo

With the ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid you can detach the screen and turn it into a full-fledged tablet. And the second part of the laptop can be connected, for example, to another display with a larger diagonal.
Visible, a laptop without a screen from Spacetop

Another interesting solution related to laptops. Spacetop offers to replace the screen with augmented reality glasses. The device runs on Android and allows you to display more than a dozen working windows simultaneously. However, it is not yet clear whether it will be useful to work with such a laptop every day.
Rabbit, a neural network in your pocket

Rabbit is a palm-sized device that is a universal assistant. You can use your voice to give various commands: send a message, call a taxi, book tickets, order food and much more. The built-in neural network processes your request, provides a response on the screen and, after your confirmation, carries out all necessary actions. In this case, you do not need to manually start the applications and enter bank card details.
2D/3D gaming monitor from Samsung

With a gaming monitor with unique Neo QLED technology, you can watch 3D movies and play VR games without special glasses or helmet. Indicated support for all projects compatible with SteamVR. The question remains whether we are dealing with a complete replacement of virtual reality devices or an approximate imitation.
Transparent TVs from Samsung and LG

Televisions with transparent screens were shown by two companies at the same time: Samsung and LG. The first Transparent MicroLED technology demonstrated, allowing you to customize the transparent display to your needs. And at LG, the image is projected on an OLED panel, which, when turned off, looks like regular glass.
Transparent cases of CORSAIR system units

CORSAIR has shown two clear cases for your personal computers: 6500X and 2500X. The second option differs from the first in its smaller size and wooden inserts instead of iron partitions. Various animations can be played on glass panels.
Xgimi IMAX 4K, smart projector

Fans of watching movies at home can pay attention to the new projector from Xgimi. The main advantage is the automatic search for the best location of the photo on the wall. In addition, the device supports the IMAX format, which ensures excellent image quality.
Flex In & Out Flip, a flexible smartphone from Samsung
The Flex In & Out Flip has two displays on both sides and can bend in all directions. However, the touch screens continue to function normally. It is also noted that the smartphone works at temperatures from +60 to -20 °C and is not afraid of water or sand.

Ballie, a smart home control robot from Samsung

If a smart home seems insufficiently automated to you, you can entrust control of it to the Ballie robot. He knows how to make phone calls, turn on household appliances, as well as play with your dog and feed him on time.

MEG 321URX QD-OLED monitor with built-in cheats from MSI

Using neural networks, this monitor automatically detects opponents during matches and tells you their location. In addition, the device supports optical zoom, which significantly increases the accuracy of any weapon. It is noteworthy that anti-cheats do not consider such features as unfair play.
ACE Kairos technology for artificial intelligence in games from NVIDIA

Thanks to this technology, NPCs in games will respond more appropriately to your actions. They will be able to answer questions differently, discuss their lives and take actions not foreseen in the scripts. For example, fill a glass with champagne to celebrate your success.
Wind-up keyboard and mouse from Lenovo

This is not an innovative invention, but rather a fun concept. Lenovo showed off a keyboard and mouse that is similar to a wind-up watch. You need to spin a special wheel for 5 minutes to ensure the charge. Indeed, everything new has forgotten everything old. Please note: if desired, the device can also be charged via the USB-C port.
