A group of enthusiasts, Revolution Team, have released a trailer for their upcoming remake. GTA Vice City, which will be released as a large-scale mod for GTA 4, based on the RAGE engine. The authors promise not only to recreate the original city and add all the missions, but also a bunch of other features.
This is what will happen in the remake:
- An improved version of the city from the Definitive Edition;
- Improved weapons from Definitive Edition;
- All cars from the Xbox version of the game;
- Models of all characters and pedestrians from the Xbox version of the game (with improved textures);
- All original radio stations;
- Deleted scenes from the original game;
- Design in the style of the original game;
- Neon lights on buildings from Vice City Stories;
- Additional fixes and improvements.
The official remaster only uses the Unreal Engine for rendering, but the game’s physics engine is still RenderWare, released over twenty years ago, with outdated mechanics and animations. We use a new generation engine. Yes, not the latest version, but the only one on which it is possible to make such a change with an original plot. That’s why the mod is called Nextgen Edition.
The remake of GTA Vice City: Nextgen Edition will be released in 2024.
Let us remind you that the original game was released in 2002, but Rockstar released a collection of remasters in 2021 Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, including updated versions Vice city, GTA3 and San Andreas.
