Game journalists began to spread impressions of the demo STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl. So far, previews have been published by the official Xbox blog and PC Gamer.
The demo lasted only 15 minutes, but the journalists did not remain indifferent. They were particularly impressed with the introduction, in which Skiff wakes up in the middle of the field.
I lie unconscious in an irradiated field full of anomalies. But something else is trying to kill me. My character finally opens her eyes and I see her, a mutant dog chewing on her leg. The hero pulls out a gun. Jammed. The dog rushes to the neck. My character fights tooth and nail and eventually pushes her into a gravity drift. The dog is thrown into the air and ripped to death. Life in the zone is tough.
Both previews mentioned a sidequest offering to deliver some first aid kits to the locals. It was not possible to carry it out: the reviewers accidentally shot a friendly character defending himself from dogs.

The PC Gamer author called the quest system one of the most notable innovations. At the top of the screen is a style compass Skyrim, marks the nearest quests and the distance to them. Journalists also noted difficult skirmishes – enemies deal a lot of damage and try to corner the player – and “awful” the beauty of the Zone. The most beautiful game looks at the moment of ejection, which happens at the end of the demo.
At the end of the demonstration, I am overtaken by another death threat, as the sky turns red and the public address system warns of an impending eruption. Luckily I’m near the hideout where the demo ends. Instead of diving in, I stop to admire the apocalyptic sky. In other places, STALKER 2, of course, looked good, but useful. This is post-apocalyptic. The buildings are made of concrete and stone. The atmosphere is gray and gloomy. But here, amid the otherworldly red glow of the emissions, it feels like the game is making the most of Unreal Engine 5.
A full presentation of STALKER 2 should take place tonight. Most likely, the audience will see the passage of the demo.
It was previously announced that the release of the game could be delayed to the first quarter of 2024. The shooter will be available on PC and Xbox Series X / S.
