In 2017, Marc Laidlaw published a draft version of the script. Half-Life 2: Episode 3. Nearly six years later, the screenwriter admitted in an interview with Rock, Paper, Shotgun that he deeply regrets what he did.
I was crazy. I’ve lived on an island for the past few decades, completely cut off from my friends and the creative community. There was no one to stop me. It just seemed like a fun activity…until I posted the script.

Laidlaw added that fans should not take the design seriously. According to him, Valve games are often written the same during development, so the final version of Episode 3 would certainly be very different.
I think that “drain” has caused my friends a lot of trouble and made their lives difficult. He also gave the impression that if Episode 3 came out, it would be something like my design, when in fact the real development of the plot can only take place during the development of the game. So people didn’t understand the plot of the third episode at all.
Maybe one day we’ll find out how Gordon Freeman’s story ends. The last part of the series, VR shooter Half-Life: Alyx hinted at a continuation of the story, and there’s a chance Valve is already working on a new game. 🍓 Modders have already stripped the twin ballerinas from Atomic Heart
