How to fix loading forever. General troubleshooting tips
In some cases, gamers are faced with endless loading. The reason for this error is quite simple and occurs in a small number of users. To do this, you need to update your video card drivers, as they may prevent the game from starting.
DirectX
Atomic Heart requires the installation of DirectX 12. To download, we recommend that you visit the official website.
Microsoft Visual C++
Let’s also not forget to mention that for a comfortable game without crashes and lags, all the latest versions of the Microsoft Visual C ++ libraries are required. You can download them from the official Microsoft website.
Close third-party programs
Atomic Heart is quite a demanding game and consumes a lot of system resources. Be sure to close all third party programs before launching the game. For example, Skype, Discord and others. Make sure to end Google Chrome processes as they consume a lot of system resources.
We also recommend disabling the Steam overlay:
- Launch Steam.
- Press the button Steam in the top left corner of the screen;
- Then click on the part “Institutions”;
- Find the item in the column on the left “In the game”;
- Uncheck the box “To turn on” in the opened window;
- Restart Steam.

At this point, developers are aware of most bugs and are trying to fix them quickly.
Fix the ‘Available in full game’ error in Game Pass
Some Game Pass users have encountered an annoying problem preventing them from fully enjoying Atomic Heart. For example, you are not allowed to get into the car at the starting location. We found a way to fix this error.
For this:
- Close atomic heart;
- Close the Xbox app and reopen it;
- Verify the integrity of Atomic Heart game files.

The reason for this error lies in the missing game files. In rare cases, users will need to reinstall the Xbox app.
For this:
- Open “Control panel” or “Options”;
- Select “Applications” — “Installed Applications”;
- Find Xboxclick on the three dots on the right and select “Extra options”;
- Scroll down and find the option “Put back”;
- Click the button and wait for the application to finish reinstalling.
Cannot leave ELEANOR’s repair cabinet after upgrading or crafting weapons and ammo
This error is encountered by many users when exploring the VDNKh location. You can first encounter her while looking for limbs for Clara. The next time you use the repair cabinet to buy ammo or upgrade weapons, the hero will freeze in a single pose after exiting the menu. No movement can be made at this time. Only closing the game and loading the last save will help.
According to our observations, you can fix the error in the following way:
- Open the repair cabinet and upgrade weapons or craft items;
- Press on the button “TAB”to enter the glove upgrade menu;
- Leave the cabinet.
Second ability does not work in Atomic Heart
Another common problem that many players are experiencing right now. It appears when you install or change skills in ELEANOR. It is worth noting that the developers are already aware of it and will probably fix it in the near future.
If you encounter this error, we recommend loading the latest save with working functionality. Otherwise, the save will be considered “broken”, and this problem will haunt you until the end of the passage.
floating mouse
Atomic Heart has a “floating mouse” effect where the game speeds up aiming and screen rotation. For some players, this is a very unfamiliar condition, especially for PC users, as such features are most often used for console versions of video games. However, in Atomic Heart there is no way to disable this feature through the game settings.
The first thing you need to do is close the game and launcher (VK Play, Steam or Xbox). Next, you need to open the configuration file. You can do this in the following way:
- Press the keys WIN+Rand then type in the search bar “%LOCALAPPDATA%” without quotes and click “OK”;
- Follow the path AtomicHeartSavedConfigfind the file Engine.ini;
- For Steam and VK Play versions, the folder is named “WindowsNo Editor”;
- The Game Pass version will be named WinGDK;
- Open Engine.ini Use notepad or a text editor;
- Now add the following lines to the end of the list:
[Engine.PlayerInput]
bEnableMouseSmoothing=False
[/script/engine.inputsettings]
bEnableMouseSmoothing=False
Close the file and save your changes.

Intro video freezes
Gamers have reported that the game also crashes during the intro movie when launching the game. However, as we found out, there are ten clips in the bundle that change from each other. A similar bug occurred during the release of Fallout 76 and was later fixed.
You can disable these cutscenes:
- Follow the path to get started “SteamsteamappscommonAtomic HeartAtomicHeartContentMovies”;
- Click “PKM” on “Launch_FHD_60FPS_PC_Steam.mp4” and select “Cut out”;
- Move the cut file to a convenient folder;
- Go back to the folder Movies and create a blank text document named “Launch_FHD_60FPS_PC_Steam.mp4” without quotes;
- In the warning window that appears, click “Yes”;
- Restart your computer and enter the game.

The intro video is now automatically skipped. This method is suitable for VK Play and Steam users. There is no such error in the Game Pass version.
Corrupted game files
Many errors are related to corrupted or missing game files. To solve most problems, it is enough to check the game files through the VK Play client or Steam.
For VK Play users:
- Open the VK Play application;
- Go to “Library”find Atomic Heart and click “Go to Game”;
- next to the button “Play” Press arrow;
- Select an item “Verify and repair the files of the installed game client” and click “LKM”;
- Wait for the process to complete, then launch the VK Play application again and open the game.

For Steam users:
- Go to Steam and open “Library”;
- Click “PKM” on Atomic Heart and select “Characteristics”;
- On point “Local Files” Selecting “Verify integrity of game files” and wait for the process to complete;
- Restart your PC and launch the game.

Remark: If you play offline, don’t forget to connect online now and then and check for updates.
