Just like in the Harry Potter books and movies, you can choose your faculty Hogwarts Legacy by talking to the Sorting Hat. In this guide we are going to talk about each faculty separately and the consequences of this choice.

There are four faculties in the game, each of which accepts students based on their character and skills. Let’s talk about each individually.
“Gryffindor” (Gryffindor)
The most popular and balanced faculty. The coat of arms depicts a lion – the bravest of all living creatures. The color palette is dominated by scarlet and gold. Students are usually bold, courageous and strive for leadership. In books and films, Gryffindor students are met very often, encouraged in every possible way and rarely punished. There is no such thing in the game. By the way, the Sorting Hat belonged to the founder of the faculty – Godric Gryffindor.
“Slytherin” (Slytherin)
According to movies and books, this is the faculty that competes the hardest, but by the will of the script, it is always forced to come second. The emblem represents a snake, symbolizing cunning and the ability to achieve goals by any means. The main colors are silver and green. Rebellious, domineering and ambitious students go to Slytherin. Interesting fact: secret room made by the founder of this faculty.
“Ravenclaw” (Ravenclaw)
Smart, curious and erudite students come to this faculty. Each faculty has its own way of visiting the living room. Ravenclaw students don’t need to know the password, but the correct answer to the doorkeeper’s question. Each time the question changes, which explains why the Ravenclaws spend a lot of time in the library. This won’t happen in the game, although it would be interesting. A popular Kogtevran proverb says: “Wisdom without Boundaries is man’s greatest treasure”which in the original can be translated as “Wisdom without Boundaries is man’s greatest treasure”. This describes this faculty broadly and simply. In Ravenclaw they use bronze and blue, but in the movies it’s blue and silver.
“Hufflepuff” (Hufflepuff)
Loyal, fearless and reliable students choose this faculty. The tie on the coat of arms symbolizes diligence and patience, which are often lacking in other abilities. Striking colors – yellow and black, they create a pleasant and unique atmosphere in the living room.
But like the characters in the movie, your skills aren’t tied to faculty. For example, Hermione Granger is considered one of the brightest students at Hogwarts, but she was sent to Gryffindor, not Ravenclaw.
What is the best faculty in the game?
There are still discussions on the internet about which house is the best, but for now we know that each house has its own side quest:
- Gryffindor – The Hunt for the Missing Pages
- Slytherin – Scrope’s last hope
- Ravenclaw – Heirloom of Ollivander;
- Hufflepuff – Prisoner of Love.
These quests become available after completing the side quest. “Ghost of Our Love” (Ghost of Our Love). On average, it takes 5 hours to reach this quest. After completing these, return to the living room or walk around Hogsmeade and Hogwarts Castle to unlock the unique House quest. For example, for Hufflepuff, the quest includes visiting Azkaban and casting the Patronus spell, which you won’t otherwise see in the main game.
Can I choose my own faculty?
First of all, know that the answer you choose does not determine which house you are placed in on Hogwarts Legacy. The Sorting Hat Short Questionnaire is used for players who want to blindly enter the wizarding world to be guided by an intuitive decision made. It turns out that the correct answer is to follow your intuition! However, if you are curious, we reveal which faculty is behind each answer:
- Courage – Gryffindor;
- Curiosity – Ravenclaw;
- Loyalty – Hufflepuff;
- Ambition – Slytherin.
If you change your mind after answering, you can choose another faculty. In this case, you will be presented with all four faculties with their mini-description. Please note that you cannot change the choice during the game.
What are the differences between the faculties for the player
The plot of the game is built in such a way that the choice of the faculty is negligible. Aside from the unique quest (which we mentioned above), it only affects clothing, color palette, and the common area (living room). You will not spend too much time in the common room, and soon you will be able to change your clothes into a unique, not tied to faculties. There are no special branches in the plot and dialogues.
