Not every gamer likes to be alone with the game – especially when it comes to horror (and they’re already a minute over 40!). Because cooperative scarecrows are a fairly popular genre, even if not all projects manage to break through to the top. Today we have prepared for you a selection of horror games in which you can have a great time with your friends.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes
The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes is the third chapter in Supermassive Games’ collection of cooperative horror movies (by the way, the same guys recently released a trailer for their new game). This time the scene was Iraq of the 2003 model. The main characters are a small detachment of the US military, along with CIA agent Rachel King and Iraqi sergeant Salim Othman. During the clash of two opposing forces, an earthquake occurs and the warring factions fall to the ground – this is where their terrifying adventures begin.
All the gameplay features of the previous chapters have remained: a branched plot, QTE elements on which the life of your character or his comrades depends, and a light sense of the unknown. If you’re not sure whether you should buy the game, you can read our review. You can’t call this part blood-curdling blood, but it can give you a few scares.
lunch lady
Lunch Lady is a cooperative horror game about school kids. You can play as one or four.
The plot tells of teenagers who, in light of the upcoming final exams, decided to steal answers to tests from school textbooks. Yes, but everything turned out not to be so simple: it turned out that Lunch Lady dominates the school at night and the plan will not be able to be implemented soon.
Players must find 10 pages of answers to tests, as well as keys to locked doors. In the finale – escape from the school without falling into the clutches of the guard lady. Besides, she’s immortal, so you can only hide from her. And from kitchen appliances and axes she throws at her back.
The game has three levels of difficulty, different maps and characters that open up as you gain experience, which are however no different except for their appearance.

Devour
BEE Devouring players will have to become cult members. Their goal is to perform a ceremony and exorcise evil spirits, the backstory of which is kindly told before the start of each match.
The list of tasks on all cards is roughly the same: find the required number of ritual objects (or animals), desecrate or purify certain places on the card, then destroy them. So the players are busy catching goats, collecting eggs and keys, while escaping the demons, spiders, ghosts and the chasing monster along the way. Fighting a bloodthirsty bestiary should be done with a UV flashlight: it destroys common mobs, but only slows down the location boss. In addition, the lantern becomes unusable in the final stages of the match.
The game also has several perks that you can choose right before the match – not all of them are necessary, but there are some useful ones. You can try the nightmarish difficulty – on it even the infamous flashlight of the heroes is taken away. And for the most desperate in the game, there’s a single mode.

hellcoming
The goal of the players in Hellcoming (and up to four people can play) is to exorcise the demon by destroying a special artifact that connects it to our world. This is not so easy to do: the artifact is on the altar, and the altar is in the demon’s lair, which can only be entered through the portal. In addition, the death of Koshcheev is protected by magic seals of various filth – it is with their cleaning that the heroes must begin. At the same time, the locations are large, the demon will be active, as well as various evil spirits that spawn everywhere to avoid saving the world.
Gamers have various tools such as a vacuum cleaner that can catch all liquids, a detector that helps detect demonic creatures and brushes that clean up all kinds of dirt. The difficulty of progressing the characters gradually increases, as does the number of people who want to tear their heads off. The project is quite atmospheric, but the replay value leaves much to be desired.
In silence
In Silence is an asymmetrical first-person multiplayer horror game released in 2021 after a year of early access. Gameplay with no revelations: A group of five people must find spare parts and repair the car to escape the monster, or solve a simple riddle and get a weapon, and start hunting a monster in return. After death, the hero doesn’t leave the map, but turns into a mouse (yes, a mouse) to help his party members find the right items.
The main feature of the game is placed in its name – here you should try not to make any noise. The monster sees very poorly, but it hears perfectly and responds to any rustle, which is why it is impossible to constantly talk with friends. When the monster still grabs the character, a flashlight will help fight – if it’s charged enough.
There is also a more difficult mode in which there are a minimum of necessary items on the map, and a single-player game where the monster is controlled by AI.
prop night
Propnight is another asymmetric multiplayer horror game, but now from the Russian team FNTASTIC. The game copies the concept Dead by Daylight, the sale of which has been suspended in Russia: four teenage heroes have to start 5 generators and not fall into the clutches of a monster, then open the gate and escape from the map.
The domestic game is distinguished by a lighter palette (someone even compares the style to Fortnite), a fixed escape time (added in case of some successful actions) and consumables scattered around locations.
But the main feature of Propnight is the ability to turn into various objects to hide from the boss of the location. Finally, there is character customization.
Eronoctose: put yourself together
Eronoctosis: Put Yourself Together is a free-to-play co-op horror game for two in an unusual style. The goal is to bring a person’s consciousness together and make his way through the labyrinths of a sick mind suffering from nightmares.
There is a division of roles: one character chooses a flashlight and lights the way for the heroes, highlighting the hidden monsters; the other is armed with a camera that can destroy the monsters. You have to act in a coordinated way: the camera can only defeat marked enemies. But if the creatures get close, the hero dies and the game starts again.
The game is short, the passage fits in one hour. But there is a demonstration of the genitals and an 18+ rating. Well, if anyone is attracted to this.
