Microsoft has patented the technology of targeted advertising in games. Judging by the description, it is suggested to place “inconspicuous” advertisements on billboards or on NPC clothes in virtual worlds.

Apparently, this applies to online games or games launched using branded streaming services. The system is believed to analyze the player’s behavior and display ads that fit the environment while personalizing it.
This is not Microsoft’s first initiative. Previously, the company had already started collecting data on whether players would be interested in a cheaper version of the Xbox Game Pass, which will show ads before the game’s launch. This subscription form only gives access to new products after six months, so initially it is possible to play online projects only.
One thing is good, patents do not always reach the stage of ready-made solutions, so there is a chance that it will be transferred. An important graphical modification for Valheim has received an update
