The penalty point system for drivers has been introduced in Thailand since January 9th. About informs TASS. According to Kingdom officials, the innovation will reduce the number of accidents on the roads.

It was noted that each driver’s license has 12 points to be deducted according to the severity of the traffic violation committed. For example, talking on the phone while driving or not wearing a seat belt can result in a loss of points. Two points can be deducted for passing a red light and driving in the opposite lane. Three points are deducted for illegal racing and four points for drunk driving.

When the number of points drops to 0, the driver’s license is suspended for 90 days. For driving without a license, a driver can be imprisoned for up to three months and/or fined up to 10,000 baht ($300).

Previously reported40 people were killed and more than 70 injured as a result of the collision of two buses in Senegal.
