The Russian authorities are seriously interested in the gaming industry. According to Kommersant, the government plans to create a domestic equivalent of Electronic Arts, which will release dozens of big-budget games and displace global competitors.
According to the most ambitious scenario, 25 AAA games with a budget of 6.5 billion rubles and 40 AA games with a budget of up to 1.6 billion rubles will be released in Russia by 2030. Projects must compete with the major game studios and “soft power toolsAbroad. In total, they plan to spend $ 50 billion.
What else do they want to do in 2030:
- Set up your own rating agency;
- Increase the number of studios by 14 times;
- Release two new game consoles;
- Develop four Russian engines;
- Open five “gamedev cities” (representatives could not explain what this term means).
Alexey Koptsev, the founder of the Cyberia Nova studio, noted that many studios have gone abroad, and now only ten teams in Russia are able to release AAA projects. Recall that Cyberia Nova is working on an action role-playing game “Problems” with a budget of 260 million rubles.
