John Romero (John Romero), one of the creators of the original DOOM, announced the preparation of a new installment for the game. This project continues the story of Sigil, the unofficial fifth installment released in 2019.

The project, codenamed Sigil 2, first became known in 2021, when Romero said it would be a mod for DOOM 2. As part of the original shooter’s 29th anniversary stream, the developer showed sketches of the first level and talked about the creation process.

According to him, Romero first thinks over the general idea, then makes a sketch and then starts work, changing details and elements during the tests. The game designer also said he was creating unique textures for the new mod. And as a working tool, he uses Doom Builder, which is much better than the official map editor. There is no release date for Sigil 2 yet.
In addition, Romero Games has announced a new first-person shooter. It is made on the Unreal Engine 5 engine, but there are no details about the game yet.
