Ed Boon, head of NetherRealm Studios reportedthat the studio won’t be showing a new game at The Game Awards 2022. It’s just not ready.
4 years ago, at the Game Awards, we managed to make a surprise announcement from MK11, which turned out to be just amazing. Possibly too different, as many expect us to repeat this trick with our next game. Thanks for waiting, but we’re not ready to announce the next NRS game just yet.
The studio’s next big project is expected to be Mortal Kombat 12 or Injustice 3. This was previously alluded to by Ed Boon when answering fan questions.
In addition to the big game, the studio is working on a smaller project, the free-to-play Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, which recently moved into closed beta testing. The release of the project will take place in 2023. Earlier, the first gameplay appeared on the web. Now you can turn your junk into a 3D model
