A Plague Tale: Requiem does not require any special skills from you. The gameplay in the game is, as they say, intuitive. Even if you don’t know the first part, it won’t be hard to find out. Nevertheless, some nuances will become apparent halfway through and even at the end of the passage. Which difficulty to choose
There are three difficulty levels available in the game: Narrative, Medium and Hard. If you’ve never played A Plague Tale, we recommend that you pick the narrative one. Do not think that the passage will be too easy: you still have to hide in the bushes and fear for your own life. However, the reaction time of the guards will increase slightly and you will also find more materials to improve the equipment.
Which passing style to choose
Amicia’s skills depend entirely on the style of your passage. There are a total of three skill lines:
- caution;
- Aggression;
- Amendment.
If you want to play stealth and avoid unnecessary kills, we recommend doing this from the start. In the first chapters there will be relatively few opponents, so you can quickly earn points. In the middle of the game, it will be much more difficult to suddenly switch from aggression to stealth.
What to do if you are noticed?
If the guard is paying attention to you, and you don’t want to kill him or you can’t, there are several options. The first and most obvious is to get around it. New locations will make you feel like a hidden predator. You can almost always get around a particularly observant guard.
Another option is to throw a special powder at the soldier, which usually extinguishes the fire. This will force the enemy to clear his eyes for a while, and you will be able to run past. The third option is useful in cases where it is not worth putting out the fire. For example, if a soldier is surrounded by rats. In this case, throwing such a powder will only kill him. Instead, throw resin at the enemy’s torch. The flame will become unbearably bright and the guard will lose sight of you.
What to pump equipment?
There is no exact recipe here, but from personal experience it is better to start with the “Tools”. Range to be repaired without tools and workbenches. Now you can not only improve things at any time, but also get extra materials for recycled items.
It is also desirable to improve the crossbow as soon as possible. However, not in the case that you only play via stealth. Despite the small number of bolts you will encounter as you progress through the story, the quiver will often be full. If you pumped “Tools” you can recycle the excess. Otherwise you have to pass.
In the last level of the crossbow upgrade, you not only increase the maximum number of bolts, but you can also remove them from defeated enemies. After that, stealth can be given up almost completely.
Where to find tools, materials and resources
Everything you find in the game is usually kept in chests. Pots, crossbow bolts and knives are sometimes scattered around the level, but this is extremely rare. Conventionally, all safes are divided into three types: regular boxes, chests and gold (secret) chests.
The first are easy to find, they contain resources for making shells. With boxes it is a bit more complicated. Usually they are located in hard-to-reach and dangerous places. In it you will find resources and materials for improvements, and even items, such as pots.
Secret gold chests are very rare. There are only 18 per game. There Amicia will find many materials for improvements, as well as the tools needed for upgrades.
What to do with a knife?
Sometimes you find knives. They can quickly kill guards or fend off enemy attacks, but we recommend that you never do this. Knives are an extremely valuable and rare resource, as well as the only tool that allows you to open locks on closed workbenches. They differ from ordinary workbenches in the presence of additional resources that you can pick up.
Is it possible to kill?
Despite the regular criticism of your comrades and the reflection of Amicia herself, you can kill as many soldiers as you want. This doesn’t affect the ending in any way, just leveling up the skill tree.
How to use Hugo’s skills
Hugo’s ability to echolocate and control a swarm of rats is very effective, but they put stress on the boy. At the maximum of this indicator, a whole sea of brodents will appear, and you will most likely die. Only use your brother’s talents in the most extreme cases.
