Choosing the right equipment for Grounded plays a key role in survival. It is equally important to upgrade your equipment during character development. In this guide, we will tell you how to build and operate a forge, as well as the key points for upgrading equipment.

You can improve weapons, tools and armor in the game with blacksmith workshop. This makes the gear much more durable and powerful, and while the upgrades won’t provide significant stat boosts in the beginning, later upgrades will help players a lot.

How to Open and Create a Forge in Grounded
To unlock the Forge, you must purchase the corresponding crafting recipe from the robot BURG.L. The drawing costs: 100 grains of knowledge.
These points can be obtained by completing robot missions, learning new recipes, scanning objects or interacting with purple blobs.
We recommend opening the workshop as early as possible as this will help you a lot in the early stages of the game, especially if you are fighting stronger opponents.

To make a forge you need one Fragment of Fragile Quartzite and marblefour coarse ropes and two drops of juice.
By selecting an item available for upgrade in the blacksmith’s menu, you will see the current level, the cost of further upgrades and the effects this will give. It is impossible to cancel updates and return used resources – in case of an error you have to start over.
Upgrade weapons and tools in Grounded

Tools, weapons and armor are pumped along the same path from level 1 to 5: this way you can increase the basic indicators of damage, durability or protection. In the beginning, only breakable rods are needed for pumping:
- 1st level: 2 breakable bars. Effect: damage +5%, durability +5%.
- 2nd level: 4 breakable bars. Effect: damage +10%, durability +10%.
- 3rd level: 6 breakable bars. Effect: damage +15%, durability +15%.
- 4th level: 8 breakable bars. Effect: damage +20%, durability +20%.
- Level 5: 10 breakable bars. Effect: damage +25%, durability +25%.
After level 5, the player must choose one of five upgrade paths. The “Mighty” variant gives a greater increase in damage and durability. The remaining four options give a smaller increase in parameters, but give the weapon unique properties: fresh, spicy, salty or sour.

These four enhancement types cannot be applied to ranged weapons or special gear types such as Peppermint Mace, Salted Morning Star, Sharp Ember Katana, or Sour War Axe.
The components required for further pumping and their effects are shown below:
- 6th level: 5 grains (mint / sour / spicy / salty). Effect: damage +30%, durability +30%.
- Level 7: 10 grains (mint/sour/spicy/salty). Effect: damage +35%, durability +45%.
- Level 8: 5 pebbles (mint/sour/spicy/salty). Effect: damage +40%, durability +40%.
- 9th level: 10 pebbles (mint/sour/spicy/salty). Effect: damage +45%, durability +45%.

If you level a “mighty” variant, you will need the same number of corresponding grains and pebbles, and the attributes of the tool from level 6 to 9 will increase with 35%/45%/55%/65% respectively. In this case, the equipment will not get any effect from the elements.
How to upgrade armor in Grounded

Protective gear in Grounded has been enhanced in the same way as upgrading tools and weapons. Up to level 5, the equipment is uniformly improved, and after the upgrade it is divided into two branches – “Heavy” or “Smart”. The recipe for making shields can be purchased from the robot BURG.L.
- 1st level: 2 breakable shields. Effect: defense +5%, strength +5%.
- 2nd level: 4 breakable shields. Effect: defense +10%, strength +10%.
- 3rd level: 6 breakable shields. Effect: defense +15%, durability +15%.
- 4th level: 8 breakable shields. Effect: defense +20%, durability +20%.
- Level 5: 10 breakable shields. Effect: defense +25%, durability +25%.

From level 6, the player has a choice of two improvement paths. The Bulky variant significantly increases the armor and durability of the gear, while the Slender variant, although it yields a lower stat gain, will imbue some of the armor with unique bonus abilities.
- 6th level: 5 durable guards.
- Level 7: 10 durable shields.
- Level 8: 5 excellent shields.
- 9th level: 10 excellent shields.
“Heavy” armor gives no additional effects and increases with each level the properties of protection and durability 35%/45%/55%/65% respectively.
“Slim” armor improves performance by 30%/35%/40%/45% and adds a unique ability depending on the type of armor.
