Sweden’s Melodifestivalen has already narrowed the field, with half of the finalists secured in the 63rd edition of the national selection for Eurovision. Marcus & Martinus and Paul Rey earned direct qualification to the grand final, each triumphing in their respective age groups by theme, with performances that generated the most votes and the highest points, including entries titled “Air” and “Royals.”

Now, Nordmann and Melanie Wehbe must pause to learn whether they will join the grand final lineup for Melodifestivalen 2022. Both artists earned spots in the semi-finals, formerly known as Andra Chansen, Sweden’s playoff round organized by SVT. They advanced by finishing third and fourth in the third semi-final with the songs “Släpp alla sorger” and “For the show,” respectively, advancing toward a potential final berth.

In contrast, Ida-Lova, Laurel, and the Casanovas ended their campaigns early, finishing fifth, sixth, and seventh. Their journeys conclude with selections such as “Låt hela stan se på,” “Sober,” and “Så kommer känslorna tillbaka,” effectively ending their chances to represent Sweden in Eurovision for this edition.

Across the results, Melodifestivalen once again became one of the most discussed topics on Twitter in Spain during its third gala broadcast on a Saturday. The official Melodifestivalen brand tag (#Melfest) reached a prominent position on the platform, ranking sixth in the Twitter Trends in Spain, with more than 2,600 original tweets, including engagement from artists like Paul Rey and Marcus & Martinus.
