Risto Mejide and Edurne clash over a Got Talent moment
There was a noticeable tension between Risto Mejide and Edurne during the final broadcast of Got Talent: All Stars. A dance duo’s performance sparked a rare strain in the usually positive mood that surrounds the show’s hosts, and after the act, Edurne offered a positive review that left Mejide less than impressed.
“Did you really find it incredible?” Risto pressed, testing the atmosphere as he prepared to give his assessment. “You perform it with ease because you’re on Got Talent: All Stars, and everyone here is skilled. But I expect more, and the viewers at home expect more too. I’m surprised you called it impressive when you’re a veteran of this country’s Got Talent.”
Edurne replied calmly, noting that she could understand why the piece had resonated with some viewers and insisting she found plenty to praise in the routine. “Definitely because I’m a veteran, I was surprised and happy. I liked it a lot. Why would I tell you something negative if it’s not true?”
In another segment, the performers returned to the floor for a dance routine in which Risto once again pressed the red button, a gesture Edurne found fault with. She spoke candidly about her doubt: “I know it can irritate you when I ask, but I have to ask. Why did you press the red button? Didn’t you enjoy it, or do you hold something against this type of performance?”
Risto explained that he expected high standards from every act. “I wouldn’t press the red button on a typical audition, but I feel we should demand more from the performers in this context. I even gave a gold button to a breathtaking aerobatic display, and you saw it. I am capable of changing my mind, even if it means contradicting myself,” he said, attempting to justify the choice. Yet Edurne remained unconvinced, suggesting that the moment felt otherworldly and not quite commensurate with the show’s usual breakthroughs.
