It hints that Kenshi sought aid in the Kano confrontation but came up short, prompting Kuai Liang to depart. In the ensuing moment, the sorcerer Shang Tsung materializes before the hero and speaks of a mighty blade concealed at the bottom of the Well of Souls. Viewers already know the journey will lead the hero to this pit, where he will encounter the spirits of ancient warriors, briefly lose his sight, and then begin a rigorous apprenticeship with Kuai Liang to regain his vision and sharpen his prowess.
