Inditex, the Spanish group behind Zara, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Massimo Dutti and other brands, has resumed its presence in Kyiv. This development was reported by RBC-Ukraine and marks a notable return for a network that once occupied a prominent place in the city’s retail landscape.
On April 3, flagship Zara stores, along with Bershka and Pull&Bear, restarted operations in several Kyiv shopping centers, including Respublika Park and River Mall. Observers noted that additional stores are expected to reopen in the near term. Witnesses described queues forming before the River Mall opening, reflecting strong consumer interest in the brand resurgence.
Overall, 50 of the roughly 80 stores belonging to the Ukrainian arm of Inditex were slated to reopen. The lineup includes Zara, Zara Home, Bershka, Pull&Bear, Stradivarius, Oysho and Massimo Dutti. Stores in regions still impacted by security operations were kept closed for the time being, aligning with the company’s caution about regional safety and market conditions.
Earlier, FashionUnited reported that Inditex had signaled a gradual reopening plan beginning April 1. The statement underscored that operations would hinge on local market conditions and the safety of staff and customers. The company indicated that initial expansion would focus on Kyiv region stores, with the remainder to follow over the coming months. Online sales were also planned to relaunch as part of the broader comeback strategy.
In related retail news, luxury houses Hermès and Fendi had previously closed their boutiques in GUM, marking a separate trend in international brands reassessing presence in certain parts of the city.
