Filming for Madame Web Begins in Boston with Dakota Johnson
The production of the filmstrip Madame Web started in Boston in mid July and is scheduled to continue through October. The crew has released footage featuring the lead actress in casual attire, wearing blue jeans, a gray T-shirt, and a long red coat.
The project was officially announced earlier this year. The director is SJ Clarkson, who has directed episodes of Dexter and House M.D. as well as the pilot for Jessica Jones. The script was penned by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, names associated with prior projects such as Morbius and Power Rangers from 2017.
The domestic release was planned for October 6, 2023.

Madame Web represents a character from the Spider-Man universe. In the comics, she is portrayed as a blind elderly woman endowed with psychic powers. The character is familiar to Russian audiences from the 1994 animated series.
Marvel recently revealed artwork for its inaugural adult animated series, while new frames from a fresh Spider-Man animated project circulated. An Unreal Engine 5 showcase by a craftsman from Epic Games demonstrated what the visuals could look like in a high-end production.
A heightened interest in these releases reflects broader attention to superhero cinema and related media across Canada and the United States. The evolving landscape includes live action, animated series, and game-based storytelling that appeals to fans seeking interconnected narratives, immersive worlds, and strong character development.
Notes indicate a push to expand the Spider-Man universe beyond traditional live-action films, with new visual styles and storytelling approaches that resonate with diverse audiences in North America and beyond.
