Directed by Oscar nominated filmmaker Irene Taylor, the film presents a intimate portrait of a global superstar. It captures the moments that defined a remarkable period in Dion’s journey, blending her studio work, touring life, and her private experiences with candid access to her personal world.
The documentary follows Dion from her early rise to fame through modern achievements, revealing her ongoing battle with Stiff Person Syndrome while charting her determination to perform for her devoted fans. Viewers are given an inside view of her couture wardrobe, personal keepsakes, and the creative process behind her studio recordings. It is an emotional and lyrical homage to music, tracing more than a year of sessions and performances as the artist navigates illness with honesty and resilience.
The project is produced by Sony Music Vision in collaboration with Sony Music Entertainment Canada and Vermilion Films. It will be available on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, with the Prime Video premiere date to be announced soon.
“These past years have been a challenging arc for me. I moved from learning about my disease to finding ways to live with it while continuing to share my art,” Dion says. “I wanted to document this phase to raise awareness about a rare condition and to offer support to others facing similar diagnoses.”
Jennifer Salke, President of Amazon MGM Studios, adds, “Celine Dion is a global force whose work ethic and passion inspire fans around the world. This film offers an intimate look at a defining moment in her life and career as she confronts an unimaginable diagnosis. We are grateful to tell her story and bring it to Prime Video audiences everywhere.”
The documentary comes from Emmy winning and Oscar nominated director Irene Taylor. Taylor’s recent projects include explorations of humanity and nature. Her body of work also includes films on difficult subjects and personal journeys, earning recognition from major industry awards for storytelling and impact.
Dion has sold more than 250 million records over a four decade career, earning five Grammys and two Oscar trophies, along with a national Icon Award for lifetime achievement. She has top hits tied to landmark films such as Ashes from Deadpool 2, My Heart Will Go On from Titanic, and Beauty and the Beast from the eponymous film, cementing her status as a standard bearer in the music world.
In recent years Dion faced the tough decision to cancel a Las Vegas residency because of health concerns. In late 2022 she revealed her struggle with Stiff Person Syndrome, which led to further concert cancellations. Despite these hurdles, she pressed on with artistic projects and focused on recovery, releasing new music to accompany later film collaborations and continuing to perform when possible.
The documentary is produced by Irene Taylor, Stacy Lorts, and Julie Begey Seureau for Vermilion Films, with Tom Mackay for Sony Music Vision. Executive producers include Dave Platel and Denis Savage for Les Productions Feeling, alongside Sony Music Entertainment Canada’s Shane Carter and Sony Music Vision’s Krista Wegener.
