You catch yourself asking, “Do we need another sex scene?” And they say, “Yeah, we do it.” I think you should ask yourself, “What are you doing? Are you representing books or diluting them to reflect the times we live in?” And I really think your job is to present books truthfully and honestly as they are written.
In response to a direct question about whether his character has a lot of sex scenes, the actor stated the following: “Yes – too much”.
It’s worth noting that executive producer Sara Hess previously revealed that House of the Dragon takes a slightly different approach to portraying violent and sexual scenes.
I would like to clarify that we are not portraying sexual violence in the show. We show the consequences and impact of such an event on the victim. We don’t shy away from the fact that in the first half of the series our main characters are forced and manipulated to do the will of grown men. This is not necessarily done by what we would call rapists or abusers.
