Laura Escanes We will replace the Pyrenees with the Catalan coast. Famous ‘influencer’ takes charge of second season of 3Cat adventure ‘reality’ ‘Transition’, now subtitled ‘Expedició Mediterrani’ as pairs of contestants must cross Catalonia from north to south along the coast. More than 300 kilometers are traveled by land, sea and air in order to pocket the 20,000 Euro prize.
The contestants of this second season greatly emphasize that the difficulty level of ‘La travessa’ has increased. Do you think the same?
Yes, we added more challenges so it wasn’t so predictable for them. They left home confidently thinking they could do what they saw in the first season, but things got complicated when they saw the tests and the miles ahead of them.
In the early episodes you were not encouraged to do any adventure sports. Will it happen?
I did this in promotions that allowed me to climb and paraglide. I love adrenaline, I love pushing my limits, overcoming my fears. I always ask directors to let me do more, and this year they let me do some. Let’s see if it will happen again in the third season.
Did these challenges encourage you to participate in ‘The Challenge’? antenna 3?
Yes, pushing the limits of your body, mind, and fears is interesting. I started climbing after the first season of ‘La travessa’ and this sport exemplifies the constant desire to improve oneself. I started on the climbing wall and the competitors were biting me to see when we would climb together.
Is it true that in ‘La travessa’ we will see not only challenges but also kisses?
We live together for three weeks and eventually some things happen. I don’t know how much we know, I think it’s more between them. We have couples, young people who want to challenge the world… You can feel the good feelings when couples have to say goodbye and you think: maybe something happened here… or not. Since they are uncommunicative, have no mobile phones and can only think of ‘La travessa’, there is bound to be another part of ‘reality’.
Did this first experience as a presenter lead to you getting more offers from more networks?
Something came. However, when a project comes along I tend to get carried away by intuition and if I have doubts I choose not to do it. Moreover, I attach great importance to the projects I do, and if we are facing the second season of ‘La travessa’, I think it would be a mistake to do anything else.
“Pushing the limits of your body, mind and fears is interesting”
Do you want to repeat ringtones?
I’d love that, even though it’s not up to me. It was a brutal experience that happened very quickly but very intensely. I will remember this all my life.
It was difficult for her to watch the first episode of ‘La travessa’ last year because she felt insecure. Did you surpass it in this second one?
Now I have to watch the show because Rome [su hija con su ex, Risto Mejide] connected. He came to the premiere and as soon as he got home he asked me to watch more episodes. Last season it was harder for me to see myself, but this season I felt very safe recording. The fears were not so present. They were there because they never quite left, but they didn’t make me suffer.
Have your fears about Catalan disappeared?
In the first season, I had many fears: If I could do well, if my Catalan was correct… It was all because of the messages I received. But I did the program, it worked, so I didn’t have as much fear on this second one. I also made progress at the Catalan level. I received a message from the linguist congratulating me!
Have you ever felt undervalued for being an ‘influencer’?
Social media is a very easy way to criticize someone without realizing if you might be hurting them. Yes, there is a part that remains superficial: “Look, an ‘influencer’ presenting a program” and of course the majority of critics have not even watched the entire program. But I think all of that disappeared in the second season. ‘La travessa 2’ is a sign of success, they trust you, a good job has been done, which has eliminated the criticism and prejudices against me for being an ‘influencer’. We all have our firsts and if we compare any professional’s first program with their last program we will see the difference. I’d like to think the same thing will happen to me.
Are you considering moving to Barcelona while working on a show in Catalonia?
I always thought I wanted to go back, but I was conditioned too much by my daughter, whose school is in Madrid. In order to go to Barcelona, many things have to change in terms of familiarity and logistics, but I do not rule it out. Life is long, I am 28 years old.
She’s done a lot of things in these 28 years: ‘influencer, model, mother, businesswoman,’podcastHe hosted interviews, was responsible for the bells… Do you feel like you’re living too fast?
I don’t know. These are things that emerged, I did not force them. I get the feeling of not running, but enjoying the opportunities I have, learning and doing daily ‘mastery’.
