Israel has been allowed to participate in the Eurovision 2024 music contest to be held in Malmö, Sweden. This was reported by RIA News.
“Israel will be allowed to participate in the competition because state broadcaster KAN has complied with all the rules of this year’s competition and will be able to participate as it has for the last 50 years,” EBU Director General Noel Curran said.
He also stated that it was very difficult to compare different conflicts and that this was not the task of his organization.
The other day, the Spanish left-wing party Podemos published a letter to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in which around 30 MPs called for the same standards to be applied to Israel as to Russia. They also supported Finnish musicians.
Russian government at the end of December 2023 allocated Budget for holding the international music competition “Intervision” in 2024. The competition should become a domestic alternative to Eurovision.
