On New Year’s Eve, the Bertelli-Prada family made another deal and bought the La Capannaccia restaurant in Tuscany. This was reported by La Nazione.
The Arezzo entrepreneur who owns Prada has purchased La Capannaccia restaurant, which has been a cult favorite with locals and tourists since 1967. Typical Tuscan cuisine was served. The restaurant closed a year ago due to increasingly burdensome operating costs, but will now reopen thanks to new investor Patrizio Bertelli.
The owners said goodbye to their customers on December 27, 2022. La Capannaccia restaurant has always been one of Patrizio Bertelli’s favorite places. A year later he bought it for 600 thousand euros. The Ottaviani family, the former rulers, will return to their places and continue their work.
This isn’t the first time Bertelli has helped historic businesses in danger of closing in his city. The head of the Prada group recently bought the 19th-century Caffè dei Costanti, La Buca di San Francesco, a restaurant for royalty and VIPs, and the historic newsagent in Piazza San Jacopo in the historic centre.
