Summary:
Antoine (Pascal Elbé) doesn’t seem to listen to anything or anyone: his students, classmates, friends, co-workers, lovers… They all demand more attention from him and blame him for his lack of concentration and empathy. Although Antoine has good reason not to listen to anyone: he is still young, but has lost a lot of his hearing. Claire (Sandrine Kiberlain) dreams of peace and quiet, her new neighbor living temporarily with her sister and daughter after losing her husband. It’s not ideal to have noisy Antoine as your neighbor, with his loud music and nonstop alarm clock. Yet Claire and Antoine were made for each other. Pascal Elbé, the director, screenwriter, and lead actor of We’re Made to Understand Each Other, says: “My story in the movie takes on the character of a romantic comedy. Although… I don’t really know what romance means to us. It’s a story of an encounter. My movie is a comedy of encounters. “
