Young people under the age of 30 began to exercise less in fitness clubs in 2023 due to the consequences of partial mobilization, relocation and income reduction in an environment of turbulence in the economy. socialbites.ca was told about this by the press service of the National Fitness Society.
According to the results of the research, the largest share of those engaged in physical education and health activities in 2023 will be in the 30-39 age category.
“As for young people, this year the share of students aged 20-29 was 23.7 percent. And if a year ago it was the second largest audience, this year it has already become the third. In second place are people aged 40-54,” commented Elena Silina, president of the National Fitness Society.
As the expert notes, the increase in participation of citizens aged 40-54 is associated with the active use of sports tax deductions among these customers, which allows them to offset part of the costs of fitness services.
“At the same time, a certain increase is observed in the youngest category, among people aged 60 and over. This is due to the increased availability of classes: fitness clubs have become more active in launching preferential programs for seniors, offering various discounts and preferences. The expert also explained that state-supported social projects have been launched in some regions, and social schemes for physical education and healthcare are being piloted to include people in the “silver” age.
