Spicy
With the onset of autumn – not a calendar, but reality – you want to wrap yourself in a blanket, brew hot tea and not let go of the cup. Ideally, add some lemon and ginger to the drink and sweeten with a spoon of honey.
French perfumer Serge Lutens realized this fantasy with a scent called “Five O’Clock Au Gingembre”. Dedicated to the English tea tradition, it opens with a honeyed bergamot note that gives a ginger-cinnamon taste in the mouth, leaving behind a trace of cocoa, amber and patchouli.
The basis of Althair perfume water from Parfums de Marly is Bourbon vanilla, enveloping sparkling citrus fruits on the one hand, and guaiac wood and musk on the other.
In Roja Parfums’ “Manhattan” scent, lavender and basil coexist peacefully with pink pepper and cloves, while in Amouage’s “Journey Woman” composition, nutmeg and saffron season cedar and white flowers.
Skin
Wear leather in autumn; We are now talking not only about coats and jackets, but also about fragrances.
In perfume compositions, the leathery sound is often strengthened by “animal” notes – amber and musk – or their plant and synthetic analogues, as well as accords of vetiver, violet and iris. Incense (Carine Roitfeld – “Vladimir”), wet moss and spices (Tom Ford – “Ombre Leather”) can be used as additional tones.
Cashmere often appears in a duet with leather, as in Chris Collins’ “Autumn Rhythm” perfume. The smell of soft thread is responsible for the synthetic note – cashmere. It makes scents more noticeable with its powdery and velvety structure.
Woody
The atmosphere of walks in the forest or spiritual gatherings by the fireplace is perfectly conveyed by woody aromas. This group of fragrances is perhaps one of the most impressive and diverse, so everyone will find their own perfume in it.
Oriental perfume lovers will enjoy “Paragon” from Initio, which is based on Palo Santo, the sacred tree of the indigenous people of South America. For those who like fruity scents, try “Feminite du Bois” by Serge Lutens, where sandalwood and cedar are mixed with seasonal plums and spices. For fans of fresh scents, try Clive Christian’s “Crown Collection Town&Country”, where coniferous juniper notes are enriched with fresh sage, patchouli and citrus notes.
Citrus
For those who find the previous three perfume groups characteristic, citrus scents are the best option. Moderately sweet and fresh, bright sounding but at the same time not too harsh, these colors will remind you of summer and will not allow you to fall into the blues of autumn.
The light freshness of bergamot, tangerine and orange blossom in Ex Nihilo’s Blue Talisman perfume is softened by abstract notes of musk and amber. And “Bohemian Infusion” from Thameen London is shaded with juicy grapefruit, wormwood, myrtle and labdanum, enriched with Petitgrain essential oil in its composition.
For home
The same goes for home fragrances – candles and diffusers.
