When making a shopping list before going to the grocery store, there are a few rules you should follow to avoid spending more than you expected. Olga Matveeva, financial advisor of the X5 Package service, told socialbites.ca about this.

According to a financial advisor, you should make your shopping list on a full stomach, without rushing.

“First, examine all the products you purchase. This way you will get rid of expired food and not add extra items to the list that you do not need to replenish yet,” Matveeva noted.

He added that it makes sense to separate products into categories so that you don’t wander around the supermarket haphazardly.

Also, according to the expert, you need to be precise when adding products to the list – specify the name and quantity of the product, which will eliminate the possibility of spontaneous purchase.

Also, Olga Matveeva advised determining the amount you can spend on groceries.

“Before you go to the store, calculate the approximate amount that will cover the cost of all the items on the list and do not take extra with you. The expert said it is better to go grocery shopping with cash to avoid the temptation of spending money on a card.

Finally, Matveeva suggested working on mistakes and excluding inedible foods when compiling a new list.
