Auction representatives initially planned to get a price between 60 and 100 thousand euros for the Michael Jackson hat, but it was eventually sold at auction for 77.6 thousand euros.
Red satin kimono of the vocalist of the rock band Queen Freddie Mercury in mid-September sold At Sotheby’s auction for 70 thousand dollars. Mercury wore Japanese national costume during Queen’s 1976 summer tour when the band performed at the Playhouse in Edinburgh, Scotland. The musician, who became interested in the culture of this country during the tour, recently bought a kimono from Japan.
The kimono was discovered in a large travel bag in the attic of Mercury’s home in Garden Lodge, west London, during an assessment of the collection. According to the will, Mercury’s belongings, along with the house, were given to Mary Austin, an English woman whom he called “the love of his life.”
