Fitness instructor explained why people quit sports

High loads, high expectations and the wrong coach are the main reasons why people quit sports. Vladimir Kukarin, fitness instructor in the Fitness Practice club network, told socialbites.ca about this.

In his opinion, the most disastrous strategy is to inundate yourself with difficult training and impossible plans from the very beginning. He explained that this is especially dangerous if the novice athlete does not have sufficient physical endurance.

“Unusual movements for the body and stress on the muscles and blood vessels give a feeling of fatigue and lethargy instead of the expected vitality, the state of health worsens, and the motivation to go to the gym decreases sharply. The load should be appropriate to the physical condition and the goals should be measurable and realistic. Losing ten kilos in a few months just to fit into the same dress will not work. The body needs time, and training needs routine and consistency,” Kukarin explained.

The coach advised novice athletes to be patient and, most importantly, to remember why they came to the gym.

“People who understand their problems are more motivated to achieve results: some have back pain, some do not have enough stamina for their favorite activities, others want a harmonious body. In order not to quit classes, you must understand what they will give you in the end. You need to fit training into your life, not life into training.” said.

According to him, another reason why fitness plans fail could be the fitness trainer. Kukarin explained that you should love the coach, and that if you are psychologically uncomfortable with the coach, you can and should change him.

“Many people are embarrassed to say this, and it is easier for them to skip training than to speak frankly. And there is nothing wrong with that; professional coaches understand very well the importance of psychological compatibility, and frankness will not offend them,” Kukarin explained.
