Prince Harry and Meghan Markle demanded that the photo agency submit footage taken by the paparazzi during an “almost disastrous” chase in New York, but these were denied. It has been reported Page Six.
In a letter to the Backgrid photo agency, lawyers for the Dukes of Sussex said the photos were necessary so that Meghan and Harry could bolster their safety in the future.
“We request that Backgrid immediately provide us with copies of all photos, videos and/or films taken by freelance photographers last night after the couple leaves the event and within the next few hours,” their lawyer wrote in a letter to the agency.
But Backgrid’s lawyers denied the requests of Meghan and Harry’s lawyers, stating that the Americans had already abandoned their “royal prerogative”.
“In America, I’m sure you know, property is owned by the owner: third parties cannot demand that the property be given to them, as kings probably can. Perhaps you should tell your clients that British royal prerogative rules requiring citizens to transfer their property to the kingdom were long rejected by this country. The agency’s “We stand by our founding fathers,” their lawyers said in a letter.
