The rapper decided to reveal the full value of the cash payments after Sting revealed that he received $2,000 a day from P Diddy after an interview with The Breakfast Club surfaced online in 2018.

“Love to my brother Sting,” the artist added in a tweet.

The 71-year-old musician will share in an interview that he was asked permission to use the single only after it was released. “We are very good friends now. It was a beautiful version of that song,” Sting said.

The song I’ll Be Missing You was a tribute to American rapper The Notorious BIG, who died in 1997 at the age of 24. His ex-wife, Faith Evans, accompanied Diddy on the track with the band 112. The track peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 after its release and won Diddy awards for Best Rap Artist and Best Rap Song at the 1997 Billboard Music Awards.
