Warner Bros. Discovery and New Line Cinema have entered into a long-term agreement with Embracer Group AB, which owns the rights to feature film adaptations of The Lord of the Rings. New movies based on books by John Ronald Reuel Tolkien are now on the schedule.

The first project is the animated film The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim, a prequel to the original film trilogy. The plot will tell about the king of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand. The premiere is scheduled for April 2024.
We are excited to begin this journey with New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Photos, discover the incomparable world of Tolkien and bring it back to the big screen in new and exciting ways. We understand the value of these works and by working with our partners New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures, we intend to honor the past, look to the future and maintain the highest levels of quality and production values.
Reportedly, there are no plans to copy the plots of the Peter Jackson trilogies, but the details of future films set in the Middle-earth universe have not yet been revealed. Warner Bros. mainly wants to “expand” Tolkien’s fantasy world in the cinema.

Recall that last year the premiere of the first season of the series “The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power” took place, which received 6.9 points on IMDb. In the early days, the project was heavily hated. We discussed why this happened in a separate article. We didn’t have to wait long: Modders completely stripped the heroines in Hogwarts Legacy
