Kazakhstan National Bank keeps base rate at 16.5% YoY

The Central Bank of Kazakhstan kept the base rate at 16.5% year-on-year. This is stated in the published message of the press service of the organizer. Online.

“The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan has decided to keep the base rate at 16.75% annualized, with a corridor of +/- 1 point,” the Central Bank of Kazakhstan said in a statement.

At the same time, the Kazakh regulator noted that the decision was made on the basis of updated forecasts, data analysis and an assessment of the balance of inflation risks. The world’s “uncertain geopolitical environment and its consequences” and high food prices were also taken into account.

Previously, Kazakhstan authorities allowed banks withdraw money from the country to convert them into non-cash form. The country’s National Bank stressed that currently the country’s financial and credit institutions have several channels for making non-cash payments and transferring funds to bank accounts.
