Yesterday the second episode of the second season “One of US” was released in the HBO Max, where (Caution, spoilers!) The murder of Joel showed. The most important role of Pedro Pascal (Pedro Pascal) spoke about farewell to the hero in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Filming the most important scene took place in the Canadian city of Camluups. According to Pedro Pascal, he had long been aware of Joel’s fate, but goodbye to the hero was still not easy.
I am in the phase of active denial. With age I understand more and more that I am inclined to go into denial when something ends. I know that I am forever connected to many participants in the experience and will see them among other circumstances, but not in the role of Joel in “one of us”. Not that I spent a lot of time thinking, but it’s up.
All the time that I left the feeling that my participation in the show is in a certain sense. It was probably that it was the hardest to reconcile, because after the first season I felt a real band with everyone who worked on the series – not just with Bella, but with the whole team. So the farewell turned out to be very sad to me, and I experienced an almost physical, painful reflection of the pain that Joel experienced. To be honest, it was almost like a dream.

The film team also experienced an important point in the show. “I clearly saw the eyes of everyone around him,” Pascal recalled the moment he went to the site with the dressed man.
The actor hopes that he could play adequately in the last seconds of Joel’s life. He also noticed that the audience will still see his character – but already in flashbacks.
I have no idea if it is visible through the camera, but there is a subtle feeling that Joel Ellie hears in the last moments of his life. He hears how she calls him, understands that she is in danger and wants to help her, but even can’t move a finger. I remember how I played it – it was really crushing.
Our impressions of the first two episodes can be read here.
