Director James Cameron shared new details about the movie Avatar: Fire and Ash during a recent interview with Empire. In addition, new concept art has appeared online.
According to the director, the main characters will meet the Ash clan, whose leader is Varang. “She has been through incredible hardships and has been hardened by them.”says James Cameron about Varang.
She will do anything for them, even what we would consider evil. In this film we don’t want to be black and white and simplistic. We are trying to move beyond the “all humans are bad, all Na’vi are good” paradigm.
Varang is played by actress Oona Chaplin, known for her role as Talisa Maegyr from Game of Thrones.
“She is an enemy, a rival character, but Chaplin makes her so real and alive.”James Cameron noted.
The film will also feature the Wind Traders (shown in concept art). They are the nomadic people of Pandora who fly through the clouds on gigantic creatures.
“They are nomadic traders, the equivalent of the camel caravans on the Spice Road in the Middle Ages. You know, they’re just funny. Like all Na’vi, they live in symbiosis with their creatures.”said the director.
Let us remind you that the premiere of the movie “Avatar: Fire and Ash” is scheduled for December 19 this year. The budget is $250 million. The previous installment raised $2.3 billion on a budget of $350-460 million.
